Discipline Procedures

General information concerning our school discipline procedures is published in the Student Handbook. In Grade Five, these procedures will be in place.

• Discipline record sheets are kept in each classroom for infractions to be recorded, dated, and signed by the student and teacher.

• A student who requires correction on multiple times for the same misbehavior will be asked to sign the record sheet.

• Record sheets signed three times in one trimester will result in the student being issued a demerit and given a “2” in Personal Development and Behavior on the report card. Two or more demerits will result in a “1” on the report card and a detention.

• Students will be expected to inform their parents when the record sheet has been signed. The Homeroom teacher will inform the parent with written notification of a demerit being issued.

Homework Procedures

Although homework is posted daily on SchoolNotes, it is the responsibility of the student to copy assignments accurately and completely into his/her planner during the course of the school day.

In Grade Five, these procedures will be in place.

• Homework will be recorded on the board daily in each classroom.

• Students will be allowed to check posted homework at the end of the day.

Grading Procedure

In Grade Five, these procedures will be in place.

• Students will be given a numerical grade in all major subject areas.

• Students will receive a grade in Special Subject areas using a scale of “1” to “4”, with “4” being the highest.

• Homework will be a component of each major subject grade with five points deducted for each assignment missed.

• Scores will be given for Tests, Quizzes, Alternative Assessments, and Guided Classroom Activities.

Service Project

This year the students in Grade Five will participate in a year-long service project.
Fifth Graders assist the Church Sexton in removing, replacing and disposing of seasonal missal and music issues. Service projects will be a priority at this grade level and will be completed on an as-needed basis.
