Discipline Procedures

General information concerning our school discipline procedures is published in the Student Handbook.  In Grade Four, these procedures will be in place.

  • At the beginning of each trimester, the students will be reminded of classroom rules and consequences associated with lack of compliance.
  • The first time a classroom rule is broken, a student’s name will be written on the board.
  • The second time a classroom rule is broken, a check will be written beside the student’s name and he/she will lose five minutes of lunch recess.
  • The third time a classroom rule is broken a second check will be written beside the student’s name and he/she will sign the classroom book.
  • If the student continues to be uncooperative, or commits a serious offence, the teacher will contact the student’s parents and/or the principal.

Homework Procedures

Although homework will be posted daily on SchoolNotes, it will be the responsibility of the student to copy assignments accurately and completely into his/her planner during the course of the school day.

In Grade Four, these procedures will be in place.

  • Homework assignments will be placed on the homework board each day for students to copy into their assignment books.
  • Parents will need to review their child’s assignments for completeness and initial the assignment book each night.

Grading Procedure

In Grade Four, grading will include tests, quizzes, class work, class attention, class participation, completion and quality of homework and on task behaviors when working independently.  If a student has difficulty in an area, he/she will be encouraged to seek extra help.  This can be done either through the student’s request for help from their teacher or a parent’s request for the same.

Service Project

This year, the students in Grade Four will participate in a year-long service project.  They will send cards to their shut-in friends at Green Leaf Nursing Home periodically throughout the year.  At Christmastime the children will be invited to purchase toiletry items with their own money to share with their shut-in friends.
